Thank God for Luke

It's sad when your memory has been surpassed by the memory of a 2 year old.
Last night Savannah went to give Luke a kiss goodnight, and she stepped on the rail of his crib and (after 3 children) the rail isn't as sturdy as it once was. It fell down a bit and I have a hard time fixing it...it wasn't bad enough to worry about, so I told Luke just to go to sleep and Papa would be there tomorrow and he could fix it.

Today my dad showed up and did some stuff around the house for me (God Bless him!), and I was looking for him and found him in the bedroom with Luke. Luke had asked him to come into his room with him to fix the crib for him. I love that boy!! That is such a little "man" thing to do...make sure the projects are taken care of! :) I couldn't believe that although Savannah and I both forgot to ask my dad to do that, Luke remembered! I tell ya, if I didn't have my children, I'm not sure I could get through the days these days! I think this baby will be nice and smart, because it sure is draining my brain! :)

Tomorrow I have another chance (hopefully) to find out what this little baby is.

Just a note

As of Friday, Feb 5th--at 22w1d pregnant, this baby's kicks have gotten significantly stronger. They went from those little wiggles to serious stretches and kicks that actually move my whole body. It's so neat to have things one way one day to being completely different the next day. Apparently we've just had a big growth spurt! How fun!

A Luke Funny

Luke just brought his apple up to me and showed me the bottom part and said, "There's a spider in there". Hahaha...apparently we've been living in the mountains too long, we're seeing spiders everywhere! When I told him it was just the apple blossom he said, "Ohhhh...nennermine".

I'm gettin' kinda SAD.

No, don't get me wrong, I'm extremely joyful these days. I have so many things to be thankful for. When I say SAD, I mean Seasonal Affective Disorder. We have had SOOOOO much RAIN this winter! Not only have we had a ton of rain, but we've had many, many gloomy days, even if it's not raining. Yesterday was one of those days when you see the sun, are about ready to get the children bundled up and sent outside and all of a sudden, it's RAINING again! So then you surrender to the rain, give it up as a lost cause and it's SUNNY again! Ugghh, what a tease!

So Jeremy just left Panama this morning. Get this, they're actually headed SOUTH. Hmmm...I thought the US was NORTH of Panama, right? Well, apparently their weird sea-going traditions are more important than coming home early, so they're going over the equator so they can "initiate" any of the sailors who have yet to cross the equator. Jeremy is not one of them, so he'll be one of the ones bringing on the punishment...whatever in the world that means, I don't know and I don't want to know. What happens underway, stays underway (one of the few times I actually agree with that sentiment)! 3 weeks from tomorrow he should be home. I've booked a room at the temp quarters in Novato for the weekend he comes home, so the children and I (along with my parents when my mom gets off of work) are going to go visit friends and enjoy a change of scenery before Jeremy gets back. That way we'll be nice and close to head down to the pier when his ship does come in. It'll be such fun for all of us to see this new ship, especially for Luke, I'd imagine, since it's going to be something completely new for him.

Sooo...with my pregnancy...I did indeed have my ultrasound. The baby looks nice and healthy, but this little one was bottom down with it's little legs curled right up over it's bits. So we have NO idea what this baby is!! Chances are pretty good it's either a boy OR a girl, but we were so excited to know, we were a bit disappointed. The girls had come with me and they were really bummed. They didn't really care about actually SEEING the baby, they just wanted to know what "flavor" the baby was!! Next appointment (Feb. 23rd) I'll hopefully be able to get another little peak. The ultrasound tech was really nice (her son is in the Coast Guard) and she told me that next time I'm in, to tell the front desk that I need to talk to her and she'd hook me up. Hopefully it works out, otherwise we have a surprise on our hands. I wouldn't mind horribly, but I would rather know...and Jeremy REALLY wants to know. I'm feeling pretty good, this baby is definitely getting bigger. Just today I started to feel distinct pushing of limbs on my belly. I don't know if it's been arms or legs or rear ends, but I've felt that somewhat uncomfortable PUSHing and STRETCHing that you feel when they're stretching out in there. I love it though, it's such a blessing to feel those little wiggles. My body is getting a bit sore, but I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm having to do all of the load around here. The wood is about killing me! Thankfully I only have 3 more weeks of this and then hopefully Jeremy can get most of the wood in for me on the days he's here. All that lifting is NOT good on an old pregnant body! I really can't complain though, I've been feeling good. I've got heartburn pretty regularly, but that's pretty normal for me. I'm tired, but I'm trying to be asleep by 9:30 each night and that helps tremendously.

Abby has lost another tooth, this time she lost the top front right tooth. She FINALLY pulled out one all by herself! :) She looks so cute with a big ol gap in her mouth. Losing those teeth is kinda bittersweet. It's bitter because I know she'll never have that same little Abby look again. I'll miss those cute baby teeth, and it's sweet because I know that when those adult teeth come in, she's going to look the way she'll look the rest of her life and that's kinda exciting! I've been told she'll probably need braces, so we'll see. So far Savannah's are quite straight, so things look hopeful for her!

Savannah had her hair cut quite short the other day. After much hemming and hawing about having her hair cut at ALL, I told her we were just going to get some layers and a trim. As soon as she sat down, she was saying, SHORTER, SHORTER! It's absolutely adorable.

Luke has been taking good naps again, although yesterday he NEEDED one and I didn't make him take one since the weather has been so funky, and today I put him down and after about 45 minutes, he was crying. I don't think he slept at all. I could have MADE him take one (I have my ways!), but it was getting late and not worth a LATE night for some peace in the middle of the day. I like the 8pm bedtime! :) His latest exclamation is "Yippie Skippy". It sounds SO adorable when he says it because he's always so exuberant when he says it and of course, it sounds more like, "Yippie Gippy"!! I tell ya, I could just eat this little boy up! Even when he's naughty, he's SOOOO stinkin' cute! Plus it helps that he's usually a really good boy, and when he IS naughty, he's very easy to discipline.

My brother got married today!!! He has been with his wife for around a year (I forget exactly when they got together) and they did a quick chaplain wedding today. My parents and her children were there. They're both very excited to start their lives together. When he called to say they were official, Savannah said, "Married?? Pregnant??" Hahaha!! Not just yet, girl! Hopefully that'll come quickly though, it'd be so wonderful for my brother to have a baby of his own. He does really enjoy his step-children though, so that alone is a huge blessing.

Okay, I'm trying to get my plans done for implementing the Managers of their Homes system...and I'm procrastinating. I've been wanting to update this, because I know I'm going to enjoy coming back down the road and reading my stuff...and there is no other place I record the events in my life that I can actually come back to! I really need to make this more of a priority...
